Pet-friendly flea elimination that breaks the breeding cycle for good.
Flea infestations are one of the most common household pest problems in Wisconsin — and one of the most frustrating to fight alone, because for every adult flea you see, dozens of eggs, larvae and pupae are hidden in carpet, bedding and floor cracks. Like other blood-feeders, fleas usually require professional treatment to fully eliminate.
Strib Pest Control's flea program is built around your household: environmentally responsible products, careful coordination with your pet's treatment and a plan that breaks the breeding cycle instead of just knocking down adults.
Adult fleas are reddish-brown, up to 1/8 inch long, with enlarged hind legs that let them leap 7 inches vertically and over a foot horizontally. They live on a host animal and feed on its blood; females lay up to 200 eggs at a time, which fall off into carpet strands, pet bedding and upholstery.
Common signs of an infestation:
Flea bites cause intensely itchy welts, and pets or people sensitive to flea saliva can develop severe allergic reactions and dermatitis. Scratching opens the door to secondary skin infections. Fleas can also transmit tapeworm to pets. For bite relief: wash the area with antiseptic soap, apply 1% hydrocortisone cream, and use an antihistamine for the itching — and treat the infestation, or the bites keep coming.
Effective flea control attacks every life stage at once:
Because pupae are resistant to treatment, you may see stragglers for 10–14 days after service — that's normal, and they die on contact with treated surfaces. We follow up if anything persists.
Only about 5% of a flea population lives on your pet. The rest — eggs, larvae and pupae — are in carpet, bedding and floor cracks, and will keep hatching for weeks. Pet treatment plus a professional home treatment with growth regulators is what ends the cycle.
You and your pets will need to stay off treated surfaces until they dry, typically 2–4 hours. Your technician will give you exact timing plus simple prep steps like vacuuming and washing pet bedding.
Flea pupae are protected in their cocoons and can hatch for up to two weeks after service. These emerging adults die when they contact treated surfaces. Continued vacuuming speeds the process; if activity persists past three weeks, we come back.
