From fruit flies in the kitchen to cluster flies in the attic — species-specific fly control.
A fly or two is a nuisance. A steady population indoors is a health issue: in numbers, flies carry disease organisms like salmonella and E. coli, contaminate food and drink, and breed astonishingly fast — larvae need only about three weeks to go from egg to adult. Early identification and elimination matter before a small problem becomes a swarm.
Strib Pest Control's technicians identify the exact fly species — each breeds somewhere different — and eliminate the source, not just the visible adults. Our environmentally friendly treatments cover homes, restaurants and commercial buildings across the Madison area.
Which fly you have determines where we look and how we treat:
Flies feed and breed in filth — garbage, drains, droppings, carrion — then land on your food and counters. They regurgitate and defecate where they land, transferring bacteria including salmonella, E. coli and organisms that cause food poisoning. For restaurants and food facilities, visible fly activity is also one of the fastest ways to fail a health inspection or lose a customer.
Effective fly control is source control. After identifying the species, we locate and eliminate the breeding site — a drain, a trash area, a dead animal in a void, an overwintering wall cavity — because killing adults without removing the source is a treadmill. Depending on the situation we use non-toxic traps, targeted applications to resting surfaces, drain treatments and, for cluster flies, a fall exterior treatment before they enter the structure. You'll get practical sanitation and exclusion recommendations with every service.
Those are almost certainly cluster flies. They entered wall voids and the attic in fall to overwinter, and warm days (or your heating) wake them up. The lasting fix is a fall exterior treatment plus sealing entry points before next season.
Find and remove every breeding site: ripe produce, trash and recycling residue, and especially the organic film inside drains and garbage disposals. Traps catch adults, but if flies persist more than a week, a professional drain and breeding-site treatment ends it.
A sudden indoor swarm of metallic blow flies usually means a dead animal — often a mouse or squirrel — in a wall, ceiling or chimney nearby. We can locate the source, remove it where accessible and treat the area.
